Burma VJ: Reporting from a Closed Country is a 2008 documentary film that depicts the September 2007 protests against the military junta in Burma. The footage (mostly from small hand held & cell phone cameras) was smuggled out of the country, physically or over the Internet. The film is heartbreaking, both in the hopefulness with which people greet the monks emerging from the monasteries to take over the streets, and the brute force of state-sponsored violence.
